I’ve been converted. I used to hate watching baseball. It was boring. It was slow paced. It was uneventful. I had a hard time finding a way to stay involved…until this series.
Until this series, my wife and I were apathetic about baseball. We decided to watch game one together; this was my first MLB game in over a decade. I can honestly say I hadn’t watched an MLB game as an adult.
Until this series, I had no appreciation for the chess match this game is. It’s cerebral on a level I didn’t appreciate until this series. It’s a thinking game unlike most other sports. The battle between the pitcher and the batter is something almost poetic.
Now I know a lot of Cubs fans would consider us band-wagoners. I don’t think this could be further from the truth. As corny as it sounds, my wife and I bonded over the game. We have a genuine shared interest in baseball…Cubs baseball.
Until this series, we weren’t baseball fans. Until this series, we weren’t Cubs fans. Thanks to this series, we are now HUGE fans of the game and the team.
The Cubs.
