The Martinsville Decathlon Team Wins District 2017

February 2, 2017

Saturday, January 21st was the annual district competition for academic decathlon. The Martinsville team headed over to Madison High School at 5:30 am for a day of competing against several other high schools in central Indiana.

After multiple hours of testing, essays, speeches, and interviews, the Martinsville High School Academic Decathlon team took home the 1st place plaque. The state competition is in three weeks at Purdue University.

Coach Chris Sturgeon thinks the team is in good shape to win the state competition. “I think we’re positioned pretty well, but it’ll take these three weeks to work on becoming state champions,” said Sturgeon. He does not want the team to lose by less than one question again this year.

Let’s hope the team works hard enough to bring home the victory!
