Planning For The Future: Naviance

October 22, 2018

Martinsville High School (MHS), after two years of debating and researching, they have decided to use a new program, Naviance. A site where students can learn more about themselves, and what they want to do when they are older. Students can find out information on colleges they want to go to, and they can learn about classes that will help them go to those colleges. Naviance, can help you learn about many things that will help you in going to college, and choosing your job.

Lance Hiles, says that “Naviance is a tool that brings lots of other tools together in one place; a one stop shop.” Naviance has many different things you can do, to help you achieve your goals in life. There are many other sites like Naviance, but Naviance, brings more tools together for schools and students to use.

Naviance is a website for students K-12, to help students get ready to leave high school, and prepare you for college. Naviance has short quizzes you can take, to learn about yourself; learn what you are good at, what your strengths and weaknesses are. You learn about what you are good at, and what jobs could use your talents.

College applications and job resumes are among one of the many things you can learn about, using Naviance. You can look at colleges you would like to go to, and what classes are usually taken there. Quizzes can help you choose colleges and classes. Say you want to go to a certain college, you can look at that colleges requirements, and what classes you can take there. Naviance will show you the best options for you; what colleges are suited for you, and what classes are suited for you.

Choosing what you want to be when you are older, is the hardest decision for everyone, what you want to be, what will help you out in the future, and  what will be best for you and your family in the future. Naviance is there to make it easier on us, to help us narrow it down. Naviance is there as your partner, to help you decide what you want to do, what will really help you in your future.

Naviance, takes everything you are good at, and shows you what types of jobs, that can use your skills. The website shows you all the jobs and colleges, that you can go to, that will help you branch out all your skills, to new levels. Naviance, can show you what jobs are best for you, looking at your skills. It gives you different choices. Say you want to go into business, but your skills lead you to teaching, it will show you different jobs and ideas you can do to combine both.

MHS encourages all of its students to use Naviance, and all of its tools, to help them grow, and learn about themselves. There are tons of schools that use Naviance, to help their students, to grow and learn, to make it easier on us to choose who we want to be. MHS is paying for its students to use this website, after debating it many times, and weighing out its outcome, they have decided to use it. It is beneficial for all students no matter the age, to help them in the long run.

All students of MHS should use this site, to benefit them, to help them succeed. Teachers, and counselors will be helping students, use this site, and encourage them to use this site as a way to help their future. There will be some difficulties in the begging, as it is new, but by next year all the bumps should be figured out. Naviance should be ready to be used by Labor day, every other Wednesday, during homeroom, but if the students feel as if they are not getting enough time on it, they can use it anytime they want to.

Counselors, and Teachers can check if the students are doing the required assignments, or not. It is up to the students to use this site to benefit them or not, it is the students choice. Students will learn more about Naviance, in the near future. Though Naviance, is a site to benefit students, students will not be forced to use it, they will be encouraged to use it.
