Girls Golf Sectionals

October 10, 2019

The girls golf team swung into sectionals on September 24th with a 3-6 record in the regular season. They placed second, losing first place to Bloomington North. Advancing to regionals in Montgomery, Indiana, the girls finished seventh out of eighteen teams.

This is the seventh year in a row advancing to regionals with Coach Nuckles leading the team the past three years. “We have a very good team dynamic, and the group is very tight-knit.” Team bonding is a great contributing factor to a successful season.

The team started off the season with an entirely new varsity lineup. Never having played in a sectionals or regionals match before, this was a new experience for all of them. With the seniors last year making up the varsity team and filling most of JV starter positions, not many opportunities were left for the juniors and underclassmen.

“We have improved a lot since the beginning, and our goal was to get out of sectionals and we accomplished that,” said Nuckles. He is very proud of the girls and the season they had.

Junior golfer Millie Foley said, “We definitely improved throughout the season, and we have a lot to look forward to for next season.”
