The G’s Recipes: Marvelous Meatballs

Hello and welcome to (or back to) The G’s Recipes! We’re two girls with a love for food. We’ll be posting recipes regularly, so come back for some delicious ideas.
Everyone likes a good meatball. Here are our favorite meatball recipes and some delicious sides to go with them!
Making meatballs can be messy but well worth it!
You will need ½ cup of breadcrumbs, ½ cup of milk, 1 large egg, ½ grated parmesan cheese, ¼ cup of finely chopped fresh parsley leaves, 2 tsps of kosher salt, freshly ground pepper, 1 pound of ground meat of your choice (we prefer beef), ½ cup of finely chopped onion, and one clove of garlic.
- To start, mix the milk and breadcrumbs in a small bowl. Set aside the mix to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb the milk.
- Whisk the egg until the yolk is broken up and mixed with the egg white. Add salt, pepper, parmesan, and parsley to the egg mixture and whisk.
- Add the meat to the egg mixture. Use your hands to mix the meat and the egg mixture together.
- Mince the clove of garlic, and add the garlic and onions to the breadcrumb mix.
- Use your hands to mix the breadcrumb mix into the meatball mix. Be careful not to overwork your meat. Try to pinch it together rather than kneading it.
- In a rimmed baking sheet, pinch off a piece of the meat mixture and roll it between your hands to form 1 ½ inch meatballs. Continue shaping the meat until it is all used. Place the meatballs on the baking sheet not touching.
- Cook the meatballs and sauce of your choice in a crockpot for 2-3 hours on low.

Here are some amazing sauces to go with your amazing meatballs:
First of all, a yummy Honey Garlic sauce.
You will need ¼ cup rice vinegar, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp liquid honey, 1 tbsp of minced garlic, ½ tbsp cornstarch, and 2 tbsp of water.
- First, add all your ingredients to a medium mixing bowl. Then, whisk together until cornstarch and sugar dissolve.
- In a shallow saucepan, stir in the sauce mixture. Heat over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Enjoy!
Another amazing and yummy tasting sauce to have with your meatballs is the sweet and sour sauce!
You will need ½ cup of brown sugar, ½ cup of rice vinegar, ¼ cup ketchup, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp Cornstarch, and 2 ¼ cups of pineapple juice.
- Add brown sugar, vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, and 2 cups of pineapple juice to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and the remaining amount of pineapple juice together. Whisk, bring to a simmer, and wait until it reaches the desired consistency.
- Enjoy!
The sauce we recommend is brown sugar and mustard!
You will need ¾ cup Hy-Vee ketchup, 2 tbsp Hy-Vee yellow mustard, ¼ cup Hy-Vee white vinegar, and ⅓ cup packed Hy-Vee brown sugar.
- In a medium bowl, mix all the ingredients
