Fun Summer Ideas

May 24, 2022

The end of the school year is right around the corner and that means summer! Children and teens get a break from working on homework and projects, to relaxing in the sun and hanging out with friends. A lot of people go on vacation or just enjoy the time off. However, if you don’t have any summer plans, here’s a list of fun things you can do around Martinsville.

You could go get ice cream at your local ice cream shop to keep you cooled off during the hot summer months, and if you don’t like ice cream there are snow cones or other cold drinks that are just as refreshing as a bowl of ice cream. Martinsville has a couple of places where you can get ice cream or snow cones. The Inside Scoop and Brain Chillz both sell ice cream, and Brain Chillz also sells snow cones.

Another fun activity you could do is go swimming with friends or family. Swimming also keeps you cool, and it’s great to get outside and get some fresh air. Jimmy Nash Park is a popular place for people who live in Martinsville, but there are a lot of waterparks, pools, or lakes that are nearby that could also be fun.

Towards the end of summer, the county fair comes. If you like to ride rides, enjoy time with friends, see animals, and enjoy food, the fair is the place for you. It’s a great place to make memories with friends and family, and if you get bored at the county fair you can go to the state fair. The state fair is a little further away, but it offers a lot more than the county fair.

If none of these ideas interest you, or you’ve already done all of these activities, there are a lot of things outside of Martinsville that aren’t too far away. For example, nearby towns like Bloomington and Greenwood have a lot of places to visit. Hopefully, you find things to do and you have a great summer enjoying the time off!
