G’s Recipes: Bittersweet Goodbye

May 24, 2022

Hello, and welcome to (or back to) The G’s Recipes! We’re two girls with a love for food. This will unfortunately be our very last installment of the G’s Recipes as we are both graduating.

Because we are both graduating, we thought it would be fun to not only have some new recipes but bring back some of our favorites for a nice graduation food table.

So first, two of our fan favorites:

Saying goodbye can be bittersweet so makes some “Sweet”ish Meatballs for that extra special goodbye. <3

You will need meatballs, grape jelly, and barbeque sauce.

  1. Pour grape jelly and barbeque sauce into a crockpot.
  2. Add the meatballs into the pot.
  3. Mix meatballs and the sauce until the meatballs are fully covered
  4. Cook for 2-3 hours on low.
  5. Enjoy!

Banana Bread is a delicious comfort food to pair with a sad goodbye. <3

You will need: 2 to 3 medium-sized peeled ripe bananas (overly ripe if possible), ⅓ cup butter, melted, ½ tsp baking soda, 1 pinch of salt, ¾ cups sugar (1 cup if you want it sweeter), 1 large egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Add butter into the batter.
  3. Mix in baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Then add flour.
  4. Pour batter into the loaf pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick is inserted into the center and comes out clean.
  5. Let cool in the pan for a few minutes then remove.
  6. Slice and enjoy! 😉 <3

Now for something new to add to the table.

Buffalo Chicken Dip is a favorite from all.

You will need 1 tbsp of unsalted butter,  2 tsp minced garlic, 2 cups Frank’s original Red Hot Sauce, 8 oz of softened cream cheese, ½ cup sour cream, ½ cup shredded white cheddar cheese, ¼ cup shredded American cheddar cheese, ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese, 2 tsp green onions, and tortilla chips to serve.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In an 8” cast iron skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Saute the garlic until you can smell it, then add the chicken and hot sauce. Let simmer until the sauce has thickened.
  3. Reduce heat to low and add cream cheese and mixture until combined. Remove from heat then stir in the sour cream.  Then, top with both cheddar cheeses.
  4. Bake until it bubbles around the edges and the cheese is melted (about 10 minutes).
  5. Garnish with blue cheese and green onions, and serve!
