Nailing It: Nails by Sidney and Girlfriends

Nails by Sidney and Girlfriends is a very popular location for people looking to get nails done for homecoming, prom or just for fun. It is owned and ran by Sidney Stallsworth. “People that generally come in here are happy to be here,” said employee Laura Russell. It is so popular because the employees make it enjoyable for the customers.
They offer a wide variety of services. That includes artificial nails, gel, dip acrylics, photo nail printing, 3D art and much more.
They offer massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, eyelash extensions, microblading, permanent eyeliner, spray tans, mini facials and many different types of waxing. They also have booked many events such as birthdays, bridal pampering and others.
“I definitely like the atmosphere. We keep it nice and happy in here. There’s never a dull day ever and there’s always something going on around here,” said Sidney’s daughter, Baeleigh Stallsworth. That is something her and employee, Laura Russell both love about working at Nails by Sidney and girlfriends, and why it is always so busy.
Baeleigh started doing nails because of the many different designs and techniques one can do. “People bring me a wide variety of things. Some days it’s turtles and some days it could be dolphins. It’s just all the art we can do here.”
Laura Russell, who has been a nail tech for twenty years, got into doing nails because of how creative she can be. “I love the creative part about being a nail tech. I always loved art and the many different techniques of nail art,” she said.
“I understand there is a big need for a full-service salon down there and we are just super excited to be able to provide in Martinsville what we have been providing down here in Mooresville for years,” said Russell. All the employees are very supportive of the move and want what is best for the town.
In Mooresville, the salon is always busy. “We have about twelve nail techs working and we are packed all of the time. So with opening the new shop, we are gonna hopefully be able to take more people from that side of the town and just expand our business a little bit,” said Stallsworth. They are hoping to be able to be closer to most of their clients in Martinsville. Baeleigh Stallsworth, Sidney Stallworth’s daughter and the owner of Nails by Sidney and Girlfriends, will be running the salon in Martinsville.
“I am pretty excited about moving but I will be staying here… Everybody is super excited,” said Russell. Employees are excited about the opening of the new salon even though not everyone will be working there.
“I’m not super familiar with Martinsville but as I understand from a lot of my clients that actually do live there, it’s needed,” said Russell. Russell thinks that the salon is a way to help liven up the square.
The salon in Martinsville opened on the 19th of March, with the grand opening the week of March 25th.
