Why Aren’t Teens Staying In?

April 28, 2020

The whole world has been consumed by the Coronavirus pandemic. In the midst of all of this chaos, there is one group of people who are acting different than everyone else: teenagers.

During this crisis, it has come to many people’s attention that many teenagers feel that they do not need to self isolate and quarantine. They miss their friends and want to live their lives normally, but what does this mean for the COVID-19 virus?

Well, to state it simply, it means that the more people go out, the longer others have to stay in. While it may be hard to stay inside, there are many ways that teens can still communicate with their friends and loved ones.

For example, Facetime, Skype, and Zoom have become all the rage amongst many different age categories. These platforms make it so that people can have fun all while being in the comfort of their own homes. With Zoom, you are able to screen share, which is a way that a lot of now long-distance couples can watch movies and videos together.

Another thing people can do to stay connected is share different activities that they have been doing in quarantine. This gives people a way to express their creativity and share it with the ones they love. These types of activities can also help us all feel proud of ourselves for accomplishing something during this hard time.

While it may be a scary time in our lives, this pandemic is something that should be taken seriously by everyone. Self-isolation is hard, especially because of its effects on mental health. It is important to keep communicating with others instead of completely distancing yourself emotionally.

Everyone can be a carrier. This means that anyone can obtain this virus. The virus can also be easily spread to others without even knowing that you have contracted it to begin with. Even people who seem healthy may contract the disease and possibly die from it.

To slow the spread, we must all do our part. It may be difficult to social distance, but it will get better with time if we take all the precautions that need to be taken!
